Shareholder Affairs

Updated Regulations for Use

Regulations apply to all, and exist for the safety and enjoyment of everyone in the Trust community. Thank you for doing your part!

Property Access

  • Shareholders, their guests and residents of Annisquam may access the pasture. During summer months, a beach pass is required for beach access.

  • Please walk to the property. If you drive, please leave the spaces closest to the gate for those who most need them.

  • Do not park over the white line at any time. We have asked the police to take notice to help ensure the safety of all.

  • Please honor all signs indicating restoration and ecologically sensitive areas to be left undisturbed.

  • The pasture and beach are not open for commercial use. This includes commercial photography. ANY Professional photo shoots must have trustee approval.

  • No boating is permitted - no launching, landing or anchoring

  • No motor vehicles or bikes are permitted as they damage the land

  • Carry out what you carry in

  • No parties are allowed on the property without the prior consent of the trustees

Pets

  • Dogs are not allowed on the beach 9AM to 6pm May 1st through October 30

  • Owners must maintain control of their dogs at all times - do not allow your dog to disturb other shareholders, wildlife or to enter restoration areas. It only takes seconds for a dog to trample what took months or longer to restore

  • Pets that don’t respond to voice commands should remain on a leash while on the property

  • Pet owners MUST pick up after their dogs. Please do not leave waste bags on the property or the adjacent properties

  • Aggressive dogs are not allowed on the property. If you are concerned about a dog behaving aggressively, please contact one of the Trustees.

Beach

  • Beginning in summer 2024, ALL beach goers will be required to check in with the guard, providing their name and address and showing their beach pass. Beach card holders who have guests must come with them, or provide a list of expected guests to the guard on the day of the visit. Please make the guards’ jobs easier by complying rather than asking them to make exceptions.

  • Please do not remove or disturb marine life including live sand dollars, horseshoe crabs which are “depleted” in this area, starfish and shells harboring animals

  • Please refrain from playing loud music which can disturb other shareholders

  • No fires are permitted on the beach or anywhere on the property

Shareholder Information

Safety and Security

Use of Squam Rock Land Trust is limited to shareholders, their guests and residents of Annisquam. Signs at the Walnut Street entrance and the beach entrance clearly state that the property is private. During the summer months, guards monitor appropriate beach access by all requiring visitors to present beach cards, and patrol the Trust at night.

In late March 2023 the SRLT trustees and some of our neighbors met with Chief of Police, Ed Conley, to discuss measures that will make Walnut Street safer for vehicles and pedestrians alike. As a result, the Police Department will increase efforts to ticket cars parked over the white (fog) line, and have agreed to conduct a speed study with the intention of reducing the speed limit to 20 and posting it accordingly.

Shareholder Privileges

Annisquam residents are eligible to become shareholders by purchasing a share at the current cost of $100.

This bestows the right to buy a yearly beach card necessary for beach access during the summer months.
